About the Creator

Dr. David L. Ghere is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota where he teaches freshman level courses in American History and World History. He earned his B.A. in Education and M.Ed. in Social Studies from the University of Illinois; M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Maine; and a scholarship to the Newberry Library in Chicago to complete his dissertation. His historical research focuses on American Indians during the colonial period and has resulted in two dozen publications and numerous conference presentations. He taught at Jefferson Community College in upstate New York for 6 years, and joined the University of Minnesota's General College in 1991. As a result of the college’s focus on developmental education, Dr. Ghere has been supported in the creation and development of 15 classroom simulations and a dozen publications about teaching. In addition, he has conducted a variety of teacher workshops in the classroom use of simulations and other active learning techniques.
